March 21
I was able to go with Maggie on a field trip with the Randall Carter Windows Arts classes to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Definitely the best field trip I've been on in a long time. We spent time in the Egyptian Wing, the American Wing and the Modern Art Wing. Lunch was outside in the front on 5th Avenue.

March 20
Happy First Day of Spring 2012! Time for some free ices at Rita's. Maggie & Lenna had lemonade, Becky had key lime, Susie had blue raspberry, Anthony had cherry and I had coffee. Yummy!
March 19
Another morning at the park. I noticed that I have a whole lot of photos of Smink at the park with Becky in the distance, since she spends most of her time in the sandbox.
March 18
I found this recipe in Relish Magazine, a insert I get in my paper about once a month or so. This is called a Daffodil Cake which, I discovered after Googling is a pretty common recipe. It's an angel food cake with a layer made with egg yolks, orange juice and orange zest. In addition, the frosting, which turned out to be more of a glaze also has orange zest. It's quite delicious. I think I'd make a real frosting for it the next time, though.
March 17
We've been having some really gorgeous Spring weather. We all went for a walk Saturday and ended up at the Packanack Elementary playground.
March 16
Maggie had to do a drawing of a sneaker for her Windows Art class. Windows art is for kids who show somewhat of an aptitude for art as well as the desire to explore different techniques.
Other photos are our finished backyard. The fence has to be put back in place and the sod laid down but other than that we're all done, and very happy with the results. The small walled-in area will be our garden.

March 14
Some more flowers. A good portion of the wall was put into place on Wednesday. It's starting to take shape.
March 13
Our first flower of spring! All the girls can go on the swingset now, too. End of the work, day 3. They dumped off a big pile of rocks and moved them to start putting into place for the wall.
March 12
We're having work done on the backyard. We had the big tree taken down that covered a good part of the "weed garden" so once that was gone we realized we could actually do something with that space. And the railroad ties were breaking apart and dirt was just ending up in the pool. The first photo is the "before" and the second photo is at the end of day one.
March 11
Becky is showing Anthony the pretty picture she colored. She's starting to get the concept of coloring books.
March 10
All four girls can actually sit at the craft table. We should probably get another Ikea plastic chair or two. And that is likely the last fire of the season; Spring really has sprung.
March 9
Maggie, all ready for the Randall Carter talent show. She sang The One That Got Away with "cleaned up" lyrics. She made the choker herself.

March 7
The girls had their dance recitals today. It's weird to think that next year at this time we'll be watching Smink in her first recital.
March 4
We went for dinner to the Park Wayne Diner. Becky and Lenna got ice cream; way too much for two little girls. The bottom photo cracks me up. I'm not sure if Becky is making that face because the ice cream is cold or because she's full.
March 2
Mr. Kaplan welcoming the kids to school on Read Across America Day. After school, I took Susan, Becky and Smink to the mall to get Maggie a shirt for the talent show. This is Smink's newest thing - pretending to fall asleep in the car. Notice the cookie all over her face.

March 1
One thing I'll miss when all the kids are in school is being able to give small girls a bath early in the day.
